The Character is the Thing: A Playwriting Workshop with Kara Lee Corthron

Saturday, October 21, 2017

In this one-day workshop for playwrights or anyone who’d like to write plays, you’ll develop tools to activate passive characters, keep your dialogue fresh and surprising, and uncover what makes one character weak and forgettable and another, iconic (i.e., Stanley Kowalski, Lady MacBeth, or Willy Loman, to name a few heavy hitters).

Kara Lee Corthron is an award-winning Kilroys' List playwright and member of New Dramatists whose plays have been produced and mostly developed at Atlantic Theater Company, EST, LAByrinth, New Georges, and the Women's Project, among others. A Juilliard alumna, she is an instructor at Primary Stages’ Einhorn School of Performing Arts and has taught at the MFA and BFA playwriting programs at Ohio University, NYU-Tisch, Rutgers, and Spalding University.
