RAYE is one of the many artists to be featured in the GRAMMY Museum’s New York City program series, which includes bringing a slate of the GRAMMY Museum’s renowned GRAMMY In The Schools Education Programs and Public Programs to the East Coast. “A New York Evening With…” is generously supported by the Dawn and Brian Hoesterey Family Foundation.
ABOUT RAYE
British singer-songwriter RAYE has emerged as a leading force in music, boasting eight Top 20 UK singles, 5 billion global Spotify streams, and a notable history of writing for top GRAMMY Award-winning artists such as Beyoncé, John Legend, Kylie Minogue, and David Guetta to name only a few. Her 2023 debut independent album, My 21st Century Blues, peaked at No. 2 on the UK Official Albums Chart and featured the smash hit “Escapism.”, which marked RAYE’s first No. 1 in the UK and entry on the Billboard Hot 100, achieving Double Platinum status in the US.
Following a year of extensive touring around the world that included support tours with the likes of SZA, Kali Uchis, and Lewis Capaldi, RAYE gave a career-defining performance at London’s famed Royal Albert Hall. Accompanied by a full orchestra and 30-person gospel choir, critics heralded RAYE as “the most talented artist since Adele and Amy Winehouse” (The Telegraph).
March 2024 saw RAYE make history at Britain’s biggest night in music by clinching an unprecedented six BRIT Awards – the most for any artist in a single year – marking a groundbreaking achievement that propelled the indie artist to superstardom. She has since dazzled audiences at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and on Saturday Night Live, skyrocketing My 21st Century Blues into the US iTunes Top 10. This year has also found RAYE open for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, contribute to Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER album (“RIIVERDANCE”), be named to TIME Magazine’s “Next Generation Leaders” list, and earn nominations at the BET Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.
RAYE’s latest work, “Genesis.”, is a three act opus and a masterclass in disrupting music as we know it. Produced with multiple GRAMMYAward winner Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins (Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, SZA), it draws a parallel through storytelling the origins of her universe, RAYE elevates her emotionally raw and vulnerable lyrics with triumphant strings and horns, dulcet harmonies and emboldened snare, into a pitch perfect performance that is a divine battle cry. “Genesis.” is a confrontational acknowledgement of a chapter not yet closed but with a set intention for a new beginning, drawing inspirations from big band, jazz, hip-hop, R&B, gospel and contemporary pop. Out of darkness comes light and with this new chapter, a musical renaissance is on the horizon.
