Archbishop CHARLES J. CHAPUT, O.F.M. Cap entered the Capuchin Franciscan religious community in 1965 and was ordained a priest in 1970. Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of Rapid City, South Dakota, in 1988 and archbishop of Denver in 1997. In 2011, Pope Benedict XVI named him archbishop of Philadelphia. A member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe, he is the first U.S. archbishop of Native American heritage.
Archbishop Chaput served three years as a commissioner with the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. He was an official U.S. State Department delegate to the 2005 Conference on Anti-Semitism and Other Forms of Intolerance in Cordoba, Spain, sponsored by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The recipient of various religious liberty awards, he is a frequent public speaker and prolific writer.
In 2015, working with the Pontifical Council for the Family, he hosted the Eighth World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. He subsequently served as a delegate to the 2015 Synod on the Family in Rome, where he was elected to a term on the Synod of Bishops’ permanent council. In November 2016, he began a term as chairman of the U.S. bishops’ Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth.
In addition to Strangers in a Strange Land: Living the Catholic Faith in a Post-Christian World, Archbishop Chaput is the author of two previous books--Living the Catholic Faith: Rediscovering the Basics and Render Unto Caesar: Serving the Nation by Living Our Catholic Beliefs in Political Life--as well as numerous articles and public talks.

He’s the senior Vatican analyst for CNN, the author of ten books on the Vatican and Catholic affairs, and a popular speaker both in the United States and abroad. Veteran religion writer Kenneth Woodward of Newsweek described Allen as “the journalist other reporters – and not a few cardinals – look to for the inside story on how all the pope’s men direct the world’s largest church.”
Fr. Thomas Joseph White is a Dominican priest, who lives and teaches at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC, where he is the Director of the Thomistic Institute. Originally a native of southeastern Georgia, Fr. White studied at Brown University. He converted to Catholicism his senior year, influenced by reading Flannery O'Connor, Aristotle, Newman, Balthasar and John Paul II. He did his doctoral studies at Oxford University where his research focused on Aquinas' metaphysics and arguments for the existence of God. Fr. White is the author of various books and articles including Wisdom in the Face of Modernity, A Thomistic Study in Natural Theology (Sapientia Press, 2009, second edition 2016), The Incarnate Lord, A Thomistic Study in Christology (The Catholic University of America Press, 2015), Exodus (Brazos Press, 2016).
Msgr. Kieran E. Harrington is Vicar for Communications for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. He is the President and Chairman of DeSales Media Group--a full-service media company that includes NET-TV and The Tablet weekly newspaper. He hosts In the Arena, a weekly series on New York's WOR radio. In 2013 Msgr. Harrington was named the first rector of the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in the Prospect Heights section of Brooklyn.
